How to install Sophos Antivirus for Kerio Connect on Linux
Solution

Answer

Sophos Antivirus (SAV) for Linux works with Kerio Connect on:

  • RedHat Linux 9.0
  • RedHat Linux Enterprise version 3 and greater
  • Fedora Core (All Versions)
  • SuSE 9.0 and greater

Sophos AntiVirus installation instructions can be found in PDF format here.

To install:

  1. Download and install Sophos according to the instructions (see above).
  2. Verify Sophos is installed by scanning your /root directory.

    /usr/local/bin/sweep -include /root

  3. Open the Kerio Administration Console and connect to Kerio MailServer.
  4. Go to Configuration->Antivirus.
  5. Click on "Select antivirus..." (near the top).
  6. Choose "Sophos Antivirus (SAVI 2.0)"
  7. Click "Check & OK." After a second, you should get a message saying "Antivirus started."

Sophos Antivirus should now be working properly and scanning your incoming and outgoing email!

Warning

If you configure Sophos Antivirus to scan your system, you must exclude the Kerio Connect directory. For example:

/usr/local/bin/sweep -exclude /opt/kerio -include /
