Upgrading from older versions
When upgrade from older version is required, there are few milestone versions which needs to be installed prior to the most up to date version. Following list is a list of versions which needs to be installed before you will proceed to the most up to date version. Follow this list and install each version which is higher then actually used:
All these versions need to be installed in the above order to properly update all internal structures which were changed through the release periods. Before you proceed we recommend to backup Kerio MailServer store, Kerio MailServer configuration files according to our manual and check if the license is valid for latest Kerio MailServer version. The subscription expiration date can be found on the splash screen of your Kerio MailServer or Connect administration console.
Possible complications
- Upgrade to Kerio MailServer 6.x series from KMS 5.x series
When being upgrading from Kerio MailServer 5.7.0 to Kerio MailServer 6.0.0. according to the upgrade process you may notice a problem with a version check. This problem happens occasionally and is caused by a missing version registry key in Windows. This problem can appear only on Windows platform and can be fixed using this registry key file (zip file).
- Upgrade to Kerio MailServer 6.1
We haven't noticed any problem during this upgrade step. Important step in this actualization is to convert Kerio Outlook Connector user settings to a new database. This is time consuming action (it can take few hours according to the Kerio MailServer's store size) due to a lot of data which needs to be converted, hence it is recommended to perform this upgrade in a time when it will not affect users (Kerio MailServer can be slow during this time due to a heavy load).
